Katalinas is awesome!!! I don't generally review restaurants but this place was amazing. Super nice people will let you try something before you order. The food tasted great and there was a lot. They were out of the mango otai when I got there, but when the next batch came out I was given a glass. They really do put the customer first.

Authentic food and you can't be the service. I ate food in Hawaii and doesn't compare to this place. Everyone there was kind and helping on choosing what dishes to get. Love the turkey tail. Definitely need to come back here.

Katalina's Island Grill is a piece of paradise located in the heart of the Bay Area! I have to admit it looks a little sketch (it's next to a liquor store) but don't let looks fool you!!!! Everything about this place is authentic. Upon walking in, you are welcomed with Polynesian music and a friendly hello by Katalina herself. Katalina is such a sweetheart who gives off 'the traditional grandmother' vibes. We all know how grandmothers are with food so best believe your taste buds are in for a treat!

I shared a 3 Entrees Plate. With tax, the total is $16.50 + an additional $.50 charge when using card. For the generous portions and quality of food you get, I have no regrets spending $17!!!

You can either choose sweet potato, taro, green banana, or a mixture of the three to go with your plate. All they do is boil the three with no seasoning so I recommend going with the sweet potato.

As a disclaimer, this was my first time trying this type of food. Katalina's Island Grill was a great choice to get my introduction from! I got their Corned Beef Lau Lau, Chicken Chop Suey, and New Zealand Sausage. Their New Zealand Sausage is pretty much a standard boiled sausage that pairs very nicely with the sweet potato. The Chop Suey has a little too much soy sauce for my liking but is still pretty good if you look passed that. What captured my heart is definitely their Corned Beef Lau Lau. Unwrapping the foil it comes in is like unwrapping a gift from the Flavor Gods of the Islands!!!! It's PACKED with flavor, juicy, and MELTS in your mouth. Definitely coming back for more of their Corned Beef Lau Lau along with trying all the other good good they offer.
